First let me start off by saying I LOVE MY JOB!!!!! There aren’t very many people today who can say that and really mean it. I can. It amazes me every day how lucky I am to be blessed with such a wonderful opportunity.
The first question I get after telling people I work at Deerassic Park is “what is that?” Deerassic Park is a 117 acre park funded by the NWDEF (National Whitetale Deer Education Foundation), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting respect and compassion for the whitetail deer and all of nature through innovative educational programs and events. Basically we are attempting to get kids off the couch and outside, to ignite their curiosity for nature and the outdoors.
We accomplish this by offering children the opportunity to participate in special events at our park, completely FREE OF CHARGE! We host family events that are fun and inspire family participation and togetherness.
One such event is coming up very soon. On June 27th and 28th is our Kicking Bear 1-on-1 Archery Shoot and Campout. This is an overnight campout in association with Ray Howell’s National Mentoring Program, where attendees are provided with all the necessary equipment (bows, fishing poles, etc.) and instruction by world class archery professionals. Arrivals begin at 4 pm on Friday and the only things families need to bring are their tents and sleeping bags. We set up camp and begin a fun-filled journey of games, cookouts, campfires, fishing, hiking, and a 3-D bow shoot. Of course we provide a mandatory safety course and 1-on-1 instruction for all participants. Prizes are awarded and last years winner of the compound bow set was a very, very happy camper! This entire event is totally free to families and we even provide the food!!!
Please subscribe to my blog to stay informed of upcoming events. I will be posting daily happenings, pictures, information, and much, much more. If you have any questions, you can contact me at the park at 740-435-3335, just ask for Lisa!
